Inclusive Access Course Materials
Students can access their Inclusive Access (formerly "First Day") materials directly through Canvas. Follow the steps below to get started.
What Is Inclusive Access?
Some South College courses use the Inclusive Access (IA) program — previously called First Day.
This program provides immediate digital access to your required course materials at a discounted price, delivered directly through your Canvas course.
How to Access Your Course Materials
Open your Canvas course.
Navigate to the course where you need to access your materials.
Click "Access Course Materials (eCampus)" in the course navigation menu.
This link will take you to the eCampus portal.
How to Opt Out (Within 14 Days)
If you do not want to participate in Inclusive Access, you have 14 days from the first day of class to opt out.
To opt out:
- Go to your Canvas course.
- Click Access Course Materials (eCampus) in the navigation menu.
- Select “Want to opt out?”
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Important:
Opting out will remove your access to course materials after the 14-day window closes.
⚠️ What Happens If You Opt Out?
If you opt out, your Inclusive Access materials will become unavailable after the 14-day period.
To continue using your course materials, you must:
- Purchase a new access code separately.
- Wait until your IA enrollment is fully deactivated (this may take up to 24 hours).
- Enter the new access code in Canvas to restore access.
Note: New access codes will not work until the opt-out process is complete.

How do I know if my course uses Inclusive Access?
- Check your Canvas course for the Access Course Materials (eCampus) link.
You will also receive an email before the term begins, identifying which of your courses use IA.
When does the 14-day opt-out period begin?
- On the first day of class for that specific course.
How do I know if I opted out?
- Inside Canvas:
- If the button says “Want to opt out?”, you are opted in.
- If the button says “Opt-In”, you are currently opted out.
Can I opt back in?
- Yes. During the 14-day window, simply click “Opt-In” in the same location.
